Happy 4th of July

This year we spent the 4th of July in Balnding. We had a GREAT time and enjoyed being with family. We traveled there going through Paige, AZ and Monument Valley. We had a Great time and took lots of pictures on the drive there. We left Thursday morning, and enjoyed a beatiful drive with a little rain storm.

On Friday we went with most of the family for "the loop" ride. Which took us to Goosnecks and some other pretty places. We enjoyed all of the pretty views but most of all the company of family. After the ride we all went back to Jayne's to do Racu, which is painting pottery. We had a great time doing this and ended up with some really cool pots, unfortunatly I did not take any pictures.

Saturday was the day of celebration! And no 4th of July is complete without a parade and fireworks. We had a lot of fun at the parade and especially enjoyed watchings the nieces and nephews being so excitted!

On Saturday afternoon we went for a 4-wheeler ride to San Juan Hill, where the Whole in the Rock Pioneers crossed. It was a difficult part of the trip with steep and slick rocks. I wish I would have had my camera to capture such a neat spot. We also saw some other things the Pioneers had left behind and an indian moki. It was a really neat history lesson and a fun ride. On Sunday before we left Balnding Devin was able to brake out his 45 and do a little shooting. We had a fun time and enjoyed our trip.

June 2010

We went to my cousins funeral in early June, and when we were at the grave site my nieces and nephews decsided to make themselves nice and comfy. I thought it funny that they all just went and sat down so here is a picture.

My mom spent her early childhood in Goshen, but we rarely make it back. Goshen Cemetary is where most of my mom's family is buried. The first picture is of her parents head stones, then her twin nieces, and my mom's little brother.

The next day I went with Adrienne and my mom to take Alyssa to the doctor at Primary Children's Hospital. She was such a trooper and was so still and good for all of the people that helped her. And everything came back good, which made it a better trip. From the hospitial we had a great view of the Oaker Mountain Temple and Kennencot Copper Mine. We had a Fun Time and enjoyed our "Girls Trip".

That Saturday we had the Finch Family Reunion at my parents house. It was fun to see everyone and visit. No Finch Reunion in complete without the Talent show. The kids put on a funny skit, some hula hoopped, some told jokes, and one showed us how many brownies he could he. Overall it was a fun day!

May and the beginning of June

May was a great and busy month. The first weekend in May I officially graduated from SUU with my Bachelors in Elementary Education.

The same day as my Graduation my niece Aryale was baptized. That was really neat to see. After the baptism everyone gathered at "Grandpa and Grandma's Park" as Aryale calls it for a BBQ. At the BBQ we got the first picture with all nine of my parents Grandkids and them.

We were also privalged to help move Devin's mom and my sister in May and the beginning of June. They both have beautiful new homes in GREAT locations, regretfully I do not have any pictures.

The biggest highlight was getting a new niece Binlyn Tristin Broome. We had so much fun meeting her and welcoming her into the family.

Overall we had a GREAT month and enjoyed seeing all of our family!

Funny Moments by Students

I was talking with fellow teacher and saying a few of the funny moments that I have recently have. She told me to write them down, but because I am not good at keeping a journal, I thought this would work.
The first one that comes to mind was when we were working on a few projects that needed glue. One boy who was looking forward to using the Elmer's glue later on that day and decided he wanted to have hot glue, so he sat on it. You can guess what happened. Yep glue all over his pants and chair.
Another was from a little girl while standing in lunch line asks "Teacher, do you have any kids?" I responded with "No", I guess she did not hear me so she asked again, "Teacher do you have any kids?" This time I responded and said "Yes, I have twenty-two" while pointing to the line. That answer did not satisfy her so she asked again "Teacher, do you have any kids, I mean like have you had a baby?" I responded with "No, I do not". She had that look, the one where the wheels are turning so I asked "Why" and she says "Oh you just have the same hair cut as my mom". Apparently I need a new hair cut.
Spring is definitely in the air! There are many crushes going on with in the class. I enjoy overhearing conversations that say "Will you hold my hand", "Can I get a hug", "I like him because he's a little on the adventurous side".
That's all for now, but I'll post more as I remember them.

Catch-Up

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a slacker of updating our blog. So i'll do a quick run down of 2009. We both consider 2009 to be a great year and a busy one. The hightlight was being married in March in the Manti temple. We had a great summer! We enjoyed living in Cedar. We were blessed with being able to see our families lots. We had fun taking a week off work to spend the first few days with Ashley's family in Minersville and taking off for a short visit to Blanding. We had a lot of fun camping there. Ashley was ablt to catch her first fish, it was a cat fish. Devin was a tropper all summer and commuted from Cedar City to St. George for work. In August we moved to St. George. We love it in St. George and have been enjoying the cool winter and not freezing. Our family was busy with both of us going to school, but we still made a few trips to the mountains.

We had the oppertunity to go to many weddings in 2009. They were all fun, we enjoyed seeing our family and friends at them. When we went to one in Las Vegas, we both were able to attend our first PBR (Professional Bull Riding). We had a lot of fun at that. We also took the Marshall Family Picture on that trip and gave Ashley's parents their birthday present to the NFR (National Finals Rodeo). So the first weekend of December we took a family trip to Las Vegas again. It was a fun trip the night we went to the rodeo Cody Wright won the go around, which was really cool because he is a family friend from Milford. So we went to the Buckle Awarding Ceremony after, which was another first for us both.

In November Devin's cousins were playing in the 2A state finals. It was this same game a year earlier when I met the family. We had a lot of fun with everyone in town. It's always fun to gather with family and listen to old stories. Joan, Brandon, and Brandon's kids stayed with us. Went made a quick trip to Grafton, an old qhost town by Zions. We always have a lot of fun exploring, especially when Joan comes and visits.

We enjoyed seeing both of our families over the Holidays. Especially having Joan, Trisin, Corey, and their girls with us to bring in the new year.

The year 2010 got off to a busy to start, but we have lots to look forward to this year. One of my goals is to post more than every s1x months.
